37 held in Dinajpur

Police, in special drives from Thursday night to this morning, arrested 37 persons including five drug traders and recovered illegal drugs- 275 bottles of Phensidyl, 1,200 liters of locally made liquor and 10,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets - from nine upazilas of the district.

Sources with the district police said, during the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested 14 persons including five drug traders with 1,200 liters of locally made liquor, Khansama three, Birganj four, Kaharole three, Hakimpur police three, Birampur police one, Biral police two, Chilerbandhar police four including two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Ghoraghat police three accused.

Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 295 bottles of contraband Phensidyl syrup and 10,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets from Hili Railway station in an abandoned condition during the
period.

The arrested people were sent to jail this noon.
