Satkhira Jubo League leader shot dead

A local leader of Jubo League was shot dead by miscreants at Rajarbagan Government College in Sadar upazila of Satkhira on Monday.

The deceased is Russell Kabir, 33, organising secretary of Agardanri Union unit of Jubo League and son of Sirajul Islam, who was killed in a bomb attack in 2013, of Kuchpukur village in the same upazila.

The victim’s paternal uncle Nazrul Islam said Kabir came under attack by a group of miscreants in front of their rented house beside the Rajarbagan Government College around 9:30pm when he on a motorcycle was going out of the house in a bid to go to the district town.

The attackers fired four bullets at Russell, leaving him injured critically.

Locals rescued Russell and took him to Sadar upazila where doctors declared him dead, said officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Feroz Hossain, adding that they are looking into the matter.
