2 die in separate incidents in Gazipur

The bodies are kept in Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy

Two people have died in two separate incidents in Gazipur city’s East Chandpur and Tongi areas.

A bus driver was stabbed to death by a miscreant in east Chandpur area early Saturday.

The deceased is Shujon Bhandarike, 22 son of one Alamgir Hossain.

Alamgir said his son Shujon was crossing the East Chandpur rail crossing, when a youth named Joy stabbed him and escaped the scene.

Joydebpur police OC Aminul Islam said the locals took Shujon to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital (STAMCH), where the doctors declared him dead.

“There were injury marks on the victim’s body,” the OC added. “The body is kept at STAMCH for an autopsy.”

Meanwhile, police recovered a body of an elderly man from Turag River in Tongi area in the morning. The deceased is Ohed Ali, 50.

Tongi police OC Ashraful Islam said: “The locals spotted a dead body floating on the water in Turag River in Badam area and informed us.

“We went to the location are recovered the body around 11am on Saturday. Initially, we are assuming that Ohed was drowned, but further details will be given after the autopsy.”

“The body is kept at STAMCH,” the OC added.
