2 minor cousins drown in a Chandpur pond

Two minor girls drowned after they fell into a pond at Gobindapur north village of Faridganj upazila in Chandpur district on Saturday morning (May 06).

The deceased were identified as Ruma, 4, daughter of Rubel Gazi of the village, and Subarna, 4, daughter of Suman Gazi of the same village. Ruma and Subarna are cousins.  

Former UP member Manik Mia told Banglanews that the girls fell into the pond and drowned at about 10:00 am while they were sitting on the side of the pond.

Their grandfather Hannan Gazi was fishing in the pond. At the time, Ruma and Subarna were clinging to each other and fell into the pond water.

They were sent to the Chandpur General Hospital where the on duty physicians declared them dead.
