A student named Abuzafar Mia from the Narsingdi house cordoned off by the law enforcers has posted a Facebook status claiming that he and the others are innocent activists of ruling Bangladesh Awami League.

He sought help from the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, to save them.

A team of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) headquarters and local police encircled a one-storey building owned by Dubai expatriate Moin Ahmed around 4:30pm on Saturday, claiming some militants were hiding there.

Abuzafar wrote on his Facebook account on Saturday night: “Honourable prime minister, please save us. We are innocent. We are Awami League activists. We are victims of conspiracy. Please save us. We are general students. Please recover us. Please, please, please.”

Abuzafar, a student of Narsingdi Government College, released another FB post on Saturday night, which read: “We are urging journalists and law enforcer sirs, we are innocent. We even do not know about Shibir or militancy. Please, do search us if you get anything from us. We are innocent. The door is locked from outside. Please unlock the door and rescue us.”

Cordoning off the house at Gabtali of Narsingdi, the RAB officials said on Saturday that there were “four to five militants” hiding in the house.

RAB’s media wing director Mufti Mahmud Khan told newsmen the law enforcement had specific information that militants took position around the capital Dhaka after the drive in Sylhet’s Atia Mahal.
