President for resolving CHT land dispute to explore dev potentials

President M Abdul Hamid today asked the Chittagong Hill Tracts Land Dispute Resolution Commission (CHTLDRC) to take necessary steps to resolve land disputes in hilly areas for exploring its development potentials.

"The future development of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region is bright . . . And you have to utilise the potentials to expedite the overall development activities here," he told when CHTLDRC Chairman Justice Mohammad Anwarul Haque made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here this afternoon.

President's Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meeting.

Noting that CHT has huge development possibilities, President Hamid said, "If the potentials of this region could be utilised, the overall progress of the country will be accelerated."

He hoped that the Commission would take immediate steps to resolve the ongoing land disputes in the CHT and would play an important role to utilise the development potential of the region.

Justice Anwarul Haque apprised the President of Commission's overall activities.

The commission chairman said that they were working with utmost sincerely and providing their all-out efforts to settle the long-standing land disputes of the CHT.

He sought the President's advice and assistance in this regard.
