2.3kg gold seized in Benapole, 1 held

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged gold smuggler along with 2.3 kilograms of gold from Gotipara border area in Benapole on Saturday noon.

The arrestee was identified as Moniruzzaman, 35, son of Golzar Hossain, a resident of Boro Achra village.

Lt Tarek Alam, commanding officer of BGB-21 Battalion, said that on secret information, a team of BGB conducted the drive in the area and arrested Moniruzzaman.

Searching his body, they later recovered six gold bars worth TK 96 lakh, he said, adding that a case was filed in this connection.
