Indian Navy in Bay rescuing cyclone survivors

Indian Navy is engaged in rescuing stranded survivours of cyclone Mora from the Bay of Bengal, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka said today.

Currently located 90 nautical miles south of Chittagong, the INS Sumitra, an offshore patrol vessel, is working with Bangladesh Navy in the rescue operation.

“Already, 10 people have been rescued in the process,” the statement from the High Commission read. “The ship is carrying disaster relief material.”

Once the search and rescue operations are completed or are taken over by Bangladesh Navy, INS Sumitra will sail to Chittagong to disembark the relief stores.
