1.27 lakh may perform hajj from Bangladesh this time: JS

A total of 127,198 Bangladeshi people may perform hajj this year, Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matior Rahman told Parliament on Tuesday.

The number of Bangladeshi hajj pilgrims has been fixed in an agreement signed between the Saudi Arab government and the Bangladesh government in 2017, he said replying to a tabled question from Tarikat Federation MP MA Awal (Laxmipur-1).

Meanwhile, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor told the House that there are now 459 antiquities preserved by the Department of Archaeology.

Of the antiquities, 51 are in Rangpur division, 135 in Rajshahi division, 83 in Khulna division, 20 in Barisal division, 89 in Dhaka division, 17 in Mymensingh division, 13 in Sylhet division and 51 in Chittagong division, he said replying to a tabled question from Awami League MP Dilara Begum (Reserved Seat-20).
