Noakhali boat capsize: 5 fishermen rescued, 1 missing

Five fishermen, who went missing as a fishing boat capsized in the Meghna River amid a storm on Sunday, were rescued from different areas early Monday.

Boat owner Wahab Member said five fishermen Horun, 24; Rubel, 21; Sufian, 23; Zahir, 25; and Alamgir 26 of Jahajmara union under the upazila were rescued around 12:30am while another fisherman Enayet, 18 remained missing.

Earlier on Sunday, six fishermen went missing as a fishing boat capsized in the Meghna River amid a storm while they were returning home.

As many as 15 fishermen went to the sea on Saturday from Kadirakhal area of Hatia upazila for fishing.
