SI closed for putting Yaba pills into college teacher’s pocket

A sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station, SM Shamim Akter, was closed to the Jessore Police Lines on Thursday for trying to make a college teacher accused in drug case.

AKM Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said a team of police, led by SI Shamim intercepted Zahidul Islam, a lecturer of Kazi Nazrul Islam Degree College in Sadar upazila of Jessore district, while returning home on June 13.

At one stage, a source of SI Shamim tried to arrest the teacher after inserting some Yaba pills into his pocket, triggering a chaos, Azmal added.

Later, SI Shamim released him following a brawl with some people over the issue.

When the incident came to light, the police administration took the disciplinary action against the SI on Thursday.
