Farhad Mazhar brought to Dhaka

‘Abducted’ poet and columnist Farhad Mazhar was brought to Adabar police station in Dhaka on Tuesday morning, 18 hours after he was rescued in Noapara of Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore.

Meanwhile, Farhad's wife Farida Akhtar and relatives went to the police station to meet him.

Adabar police inspector (operation) Sujit Kumar Saha said a team of senior police officers brought Farhad Mazhar to Dhaka.

He is now at Adabar police station, the inspector added.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) director Khandker Rafiqul Islam on Monday said Farhad Mazhar was rescued around 11:30pm when he was returning to Dhaka from Khulna in a Hanif Paribahan bus.

Earlier in the day, Farhad Mazhar was reportedly abducted by unknown miscreants from his Adabar residence in the capital.

Having failed to know the whereabouts of Farhad Mazhar till 10:00am, his family members then went to Adabar police station and informed the police.
