Court wants probe report over Jahangirnagar University vandalism by August 7

A Dhaka court on Tuesday asked Ashulia police to submit the probe report of the case filed against 54 Jahangirnagar University (JU) students on charge of vandalising the vice chancellor's residence by August 7.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahinur Rahman passed the order after Ashulia thana police failed to submit the probe report on Tuesday.

The accused students, now on bail, appeared before the court.

On the morning of May 26, two JU students Nazmul Hasan Rana of Marketing department and Arafat of Microbiology department were killed in a tragic road crash.

When agitated students blocked the highway with protesting the accident police fired rubber bullets and tear gas shells to disperse them.

Protesting the police attack, some students gathered in front of the VC's official residence and locked the main gate.

Later, police arrested 42 students from the scene and produced them before court on the next day.

Besides, 12 female students were detained and later were shown arrested in the vandalism case.
