JU vandalism case: 2 more students join hunger strike

Two more students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have joined two fellows, who are observing a hunger strike until death demanding withdrawal of a vandalism case filed against 56 university students.

Yesterday, Puja Biswash of internationals relations and Sarder Zahid of English departments, also accused in the case, began their hunger strike at Shaheed Minar on the campus.

Tahmina Jahan, a masters student of English department, and Arman of law department joined Puja and Zahid last might and this morning respectively although they are not accused in the case.

Abu Bakar Siddique, registrar of the university filed the case against the students on charge of vandalising residence of the JU vice-chancellor on May 27 following a road accident that killed two students of the university.

Meanwhile, Abu Bakar called an emergency syndicate meeting in the afternoon. But reason for calling the meeting is yet to be known.
