Fire near DU VC’s residence doused

Firefighters doused a fire near the Dhaka University Vice Chancellor's residence immediately after it broke out this morning.
On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and managed to douse the fire around 9:30am that originated from an electric short circuit around 9:10am, our DU correspondent reports quoting officials at Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Meanwhile, electricity supply, broadband internet and cable connections on the campus were disrupted due to the fire, said DU acting Proctor M Amzad Ali.
"We need time to get rid of the situation. We will take alternative steps to ensure the power supply immediately," he added.
