Rupayan Group official held on graft charge

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today arrested two persons including an executive director of Rupayan Group in a case filed on charge of misappropriating Tk 45 crore of United Commercial Bank.

A team led by ACC’s Deputy Assistant Director Azizul Haque arrested executive director of Rupayan Group Ali Akbar Khan Ratan and managing director of Geodetic Survey Corporation Golam Kabir in Dhaka’s Ramna area.

Ratan, also the proprietor of Ratan Traders, took loan from the bank showing fake documents, the ACC official said.

The duo will be produced before the court later in the day, he added.
