Body of another Bandarban landslide victim recovered

The body of a bank officer, who went missing during a landslide on July 23, has been recovered from the Sankha River in Roangchhari upazila of Bandarban, raising the death toll to four.

The deceased Goutam Nandi, a second officer of Ruma Agriculture Bank, remained missing during a landslide on July 23 at Dolian Para in Ruma  upazila, said Harun-or-Rashid, acting deputy commissioner of the district.

Locals spotted the body at Tarasa area of Roangchhari upazila around 4:00pm and informed police who later recovered it, he said.

His body was handed over to his family members, the acting DC said, adding two people were still missing.

Meanwhile, the local administration provided Tk 20,000 to the family members of the victim for the funeral.

On July 23, a teenage girl was killed and at least four others went missing in a landslide triggered by torrential rain in Bandarban.
