PM mourns death of Major Ziauddin

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed deep shock at the death of Major (retd) Ziauddin Ahmed, a sub-sector commander during Bangladesh's Liberation War.

In a condolence message, the premier recalled Major Ziauddin's invaluable contributions to the Liberation War. "The country has lost a valiant freedom fighter in his death," she said.

Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Ziauddin, who had been suffering from liver ailments, died at a Singapore hospital this morning at the age of 67.
