Doctors this morning collected tissue samples from Muktamoni, a 12-year old girl from Satkhira afflicted by a disease mainly in her right hand, a condition leading to her hand swelling up like a bee hive, to determine her treatment procedure.

Physicians at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) collected biopsy samples from her hand, which would be diagnosed to determine her disease and the required treatment procedure for the cure, Dr Samanta Lal Sen, member of a medical board that has been formed to conduct her treatment.

The biopsy report would be available within next 48 to 72 hours, after which the medical board will decide on Muktamoni’s treatment procedure, the doctor of the eight-member board added.

Earlier on July 11, Muktamoni was admitted to DMCH for treatment as a last hope, after doctors in Khulna gave up on her around two and a half years ago, claiming she was incurable.
