3 get life for killing N’ganj schoolboy

A Narayanganj court today sentenced three persons including a woman to life term imprisonment for killing a schoolboy after kidnapping in Siddhirganj area in 2013.
The court also fined the trio Hamidul Islam, 30, Ripon, 32, and Afroza Akhter, 25 Tk 50,000 each. They all hail from Sherpur district and were residents of Siddhirganj area of the district.
Additional Session and District Judge Meyaji Shahidul Alam Choudhury handed down the verdict in the morning.
The convicts kidnapped Ramjan Sikder, 9, on September 7, 2013, and demanded ransom from his father Ismail.
Failing to realise the money, they killed Ramjan near Siddhirganj Bridge and left his body in a bush the next day.
Later, the body was recovered and a case was filed with the Siddhirganj Police Station.
While talking to The Daily Star, Ramjan’s mother, “I am not happy with the verdict. I want them to be hanged for killing my son.”
