2 held with 24,000 yaba pills in Cox’s Bazar

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two people along with 24,000 pieces of yaba pills from Link Road area in Sadar upazila early Wednesday.

The arrestees are Md Rashidul Islam, 45, son of late Nurul Alam of Thimchhari in Ukhia upazila and Md Rashid Ahmed, 44, son of late Mohammad Ali of Haldia Palong village in the same upazila.

Tipped off that a consignment of yaba is being smuggled through Teknaf-Cox's Bazar road, a team of Rab-7 conducted a drive in the area and intercepted a truck around 12:10 am. They then arrested the duo along with the consignment of contraband pills and seized the truck, said a Rab press release.

The arrestees and the seized vehicle were handed over to Cox' Bazar Sadar Model Police Station, it added.
