Possibility of illegal drugs and arms entering Bangladesh with the exodus of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar deeply worries the government, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said.

As a huge number of Rohingyas are entering Bangladesh following persecution in the Rakhine state, there is a grave concern that with the refugees, illegal drugs and arms might get in, said minister.

Quader, also the general secretary of Awami League, came up with the apprehension while responding to a question by journalists at a press conference today at the Secretariat in Dhaka.

The government has already protested the “push in policy” of the Myanmar, he said, adding that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the authorities concerned to treat the Rohingya refugees humanely.
