Uber has said that by 2040-and by 2030 in US, Canadian and European cities all taxis accessible through his app will be electric.

The ride-hailing firm said the move was part of their "responsibility" to tackle the climate change issue.

The company said it would spend $800 m ( £ 614 m) to help drivers turn to electric vehicles, building dealer alliances to ensure discounts.

Users may also apply for an electric or hybrid car, BBC said.

That choice is available for an additional $1 in 15 United States and Canadian cities, Uber said. It said by the end of the year, it will open globally in more than 65 cities.
