Arms trader held in C’nawabganj

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged arms trader along with arms from Chalkpara border area in Chapainawabganj early Monday.

The arrestee was identified as Maznu Miah, 55, son of late Abul Hossain, a resident of Namuchalkpara Mollatola village of the upazila.

Lt Cl Md Rashed Ali, commanding officer of BGB-59 battalion, said at a press briefing that on secret information, a team of BGB raided in the house of Maznu around 1:30 am and recovered six foreign pistols, 18 rounds of bullets and four magazines from his room.

Later, police arrested Maznu while another arms trader fled away.
