2 men killed as Army armoured vehicle hits auto rickshaws

Two passengers of three CNG-run auto rickshaws were killed as an armoured vehicle of Bangladesh Army hit it at Hathazari in Chittagong on Friday morning.

At least eight people were injured during the accident.

Local people said an Army convoy including training equipment was moving towards Mirzapur when it rammed three CNG-run auto rickshaws at Nazirhat near municipality Munshi’s mosque area in Hathazari and left two passengers of the auto rickshaws dead on the spot. Meanwhile, a tailback was created on the Hathazari-Nazirhat Road following the accident

The Hathazari police Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahangir Alam said the armoured vehicle hit a pick-up van. Later, it rammed into three CNG-run auto rickshaws and two of the auto rickshaws fell into a roadside ditch.

SI said Hathazari police, fire fighters and members of Bangladesh army went to the spot at about 10:30am and started rescue operation.
