Ex-UP member shot dead

A former union parisad (UP) member was shot to death in Khanka Sharif Bazar area of Boro Durgapur village in Bera upazila of Pabna district on Friday night.

The deceased is Sabuj Mandal, 45, a former member of Dhalarchar union parishad and son of a certain late Lokman Mandal of the village.

Gautam Kumar Biswas, additional superintendent of Pabna district police, said a gang of four-five miscreants shot Sabuj to death while he was taking tea at a stall in the area around 8:00pm.

Police primarily suspect that Sabuj might have been killed over establishing supremacy in the area, he added.
