One held with $ 32,000 at Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh  (BGB) detained a Bangladeshi national along with $ 32,000 from passenger terminal area of the Benapole Check post on Wednesday.

The detainee is Awlad Hossain, 35, son of Abdul Karim, a resident of Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka.

Lt Col Ariful Huq, commanding officer of BGB 49 battalion, said on secret information that a huge consignment of foreign currency is being smuggled into Bangladesh from India, BGB men conducted drive here in the morning and arrested the man.

Later, the BGB men seized $ 32,000 from his possession and handed over the detainee to the Benapole Port Police Station.

A case was filed.
