3 ‘JMB men’ held with huge arms, ammo in Chittagong

Detectives in a drive arrested three suspected members of the banned militant group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and recovered huge arms, bomb making substance and 12 sets of army uniforms from Aman Bazar area in Chittagong.

The drive began on Saturday morning and was closed early Sunday.

The arrestees were identified as Faisal, Rasel and Nahin. All of them were around 25 years old.

Babul Akhter, additional deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB) of police, said in separate drives they arrested three JMB men from different areas of the city in a drive from Saturday morning to noon.

Following their information, the DB police raided a rented house of JMB’s Chittagong regional commander Fardin in the area and recovered one MK11 rifle, 290 rounds of bullets, two magazines, 2 kg bomb making substances, 12 sets of army uniforms  and several rank insignia of army on Sunday morning.

The DB will brief details in a press briefing at noon.
