5 Jamaat men held in Khulna

Police in a drive arrested five local leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islam Bangladesh along with four hand bombs and some Jihadi books from a Madrasah at Phultala Jamira area of the city on Wednesday morning.

Of them, two were identified as Gausul Azam Hazi, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam of Phultola upazila unit and Nazrul Islam,  Rukon (Member) of the unit  and Vice-Principal of Phutala Jamira Kamil Madrasah.

Asaduzzaman Munshi, officer-in-charge of Phultala Police Station said on secret information that some Jamaat leaders and activists gathered at the Madrasah for planning to carry out subversive activities in the area, a team of police conducted drive around   10 am and arrested them along four hand bombs and some Jihadi books.

At least 20 Jamaat men managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of law enforcers, the OC added.

A case was filed with the police station in this connection, the OC said.
