3 held with hemp in Chittagong

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested three people along with 19 kilograms of hemp worth of Tk 1.52 lakh from city gate area under Akbar Shah Police Station of the port city early Tuesday.

The arrestees were identified as Md Anwar Hossain, 42, son of late Abdul Wahid Sardar of Kallyankolos village in Galachipa upazila of Patuakhali district, Md Hasan, 42, son of late Moslem Miah of Oikuri village in Chandina upazila of Comilla and Md Shamsu Miah, 27, son of late Rahmat Ali of Nowapara village in Chauddagram upazila.

On secret information, a team of Rab-7 set up a special check post in the area and started searching drive at the vehicles on the road, said a press release.

Later, the elite force arrested them along with the amount of hemp while searching a Cox’s Bazar-bound Hanif Paribahan bus from Dhaka around 4am.

The force also seized the bus.
