Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said on Thursday that action will be taken against deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman after reaching probe report to home ministry from police headquarters.

The minister came up with the remarks while responding to reporters after paying respect to a memorial at Mirpur Police Staff College in the capital marking Police memorial day-2018.

He said that the probe report against DIG Mizan has been submitted to Police headquarters.

“We will take action after getting the probe report with recommendation for punishment,” said the home boss.

Mizan allegedly picked up one Morium Akter and forcefully married her. Later following a family feud Mizanur instigated arrest of Morium over a false case. The matter came into public following recent media reports on this incident.

Following the allegation, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner, Mizanur Rahman was withdrawn from the DMP headquarters and attached to Police headquarters.
