Ninth death anniversary of Dr Wazed Miah today

Today is the ninth death anniversary of renowned nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband Dr M A Wazed Miah.

The Pirganj upazila administration, Dr Wazed Smriti Sangsad (DWSS), Dr Wazed Foundation, Awami League (AL), its associate bodies and family of Dr Wazed and other organisations have chalked out different programmes to observe the death anniversary.

The programmes include placing of wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed in village Fatehpur under Pirganj upazila in the morning, offering Fateha, Milad mahfil, 'Ziayarat', distribution of foods to the poor and memorial discussions.

Mayor of Pirganj Tazimul Islam Shamim and Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamal Kumar Ghosh will place wreaths at his grave at his ancestral village Laldighee Fatehpur in the morning.

Talking to BSS today, General Secretary of DWSS Saiful Islam Jahangir said the organisation will observe his death anniversary through a daylong programme including special prayers seeking eternal peace of the departed soul and well-being of his family members Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and others.

The organisaiton will stage a memorial discussion on Wazed at Press Club Bhaban in the evening.

The district and city units of AL will arrange milad mahfils and memorial discussions on the life and works of Dr Wazed at district AL office in the city with the party's acting district unit president Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed in the chair.

Pirganj upazila AL, Dr Wazed Foundation, Begum Rokeya University and family members of Dr Wazed will also observe Wazed's death anniversary through daylong programmes.
