Quota reform protesters on Monday blocked the Shahbagh intersection, one of Dhaka’s busiest area, suspending vehicular movement in the area.

Students at universities and colleges across the country have been boycotting classes and examinations as the government missed the deadline for issuing a gazette notification abolishing the quota system.

Demanding immediate issuance of gazette scrapping quota system in government services, the protestors were staging demonstrations at Shahbagh since morning and halted traffic around 1:30pm.

According to witnesses, huge traffic congestion was created at Shahbagh and its adjoining areas.

As part of the scheduled programme, hundreds of job seekers, students of different college and universities, brought out a procession from Shahbagh intersection around 11am.

Meanwhile, an indefinite class and examination boycott programme at colleges and universities across the country is going on as the government failed to publish a gazette abolishing the quota system in government services by the timeframe given by quota reform protesters.
