20 shops gutted in Khulna fire

At least 20 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Sachiadah Bazar in Terokhada upazila on Wednesday night around 9 pm.

On information, 10 firefighting units from Khulna, Bagerhat and Gopalganj fire stations rushed in and brought the blaze under control around 10:30 pm, said Mamun, said Khulna Fire Service Control Room.

Soon after the incident, upazila chairman Sharfuddin Biswas Bachchu visited the area and said at first, the fire broke out at an oil shop and destroyed 100 drums of fuel oil and petrol.

Later, the fire engulfed the adjoining 19 others verity shops and gutted down. But the origin of the fire and quantity of damage could not be known immediately, the chairman added.
