6 killed in road crashes across country

At least six people, including a schoolboy, were killed in separate road accidents in Habiganj, Thakurgaon, Satkhira and Dhaka districts on Friday.

In Dhaka, two motorcyclists were killed after a bus hit a motorbike on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Aminbazar truck stand area around 7:30am, said Savar model police station officer-in-charge Mohsinul Quadir.

The deceased are Sujat, 25 and Shafiq Ahmed, 26, hailing from Pabna district.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

In Habiganj, a schoolboy was killed as a battery-run auto-rickshaw ran over him in Richi village of sadar upazila in the morning.

The deceased is Joy, 10, son of one Akbar Miah, a resident of the area.

Witnesses said the auto-rickshaw ran over Joy while he was playing in front of his house in the morning, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Sadar Adhunik Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

In Thakurgaon, two people were killed and 14 others injured in a head on collision between a bus and a covered van on Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway in sadar upazila in the morning.

The deceased are covered van driver Sazzad, 50, and a passenger of the bus Masiur, 35.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Thakurgaon sadar police station.

Three of the injured were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as their conditions deteriorated and others released after giving treatment, said Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital emergency section physician Jinnat Perveen.

In Satkhira, a man was killed as a truck ran over him, leaving him dead on the spot in Debhata upazila around 1:00pm, said sub-inspector Yamin Ali of Debhata police station.

The deceased is Monirul Islam, 32, son of one Abul Hossain of Parulia Fulbari village in the upazila.
