Road accidents leave 2 dead in two districts

Two people, including a schoolteacher, were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in Bagura and Cumilla districts on Thursday.

In Bagura, Abul Hossain, 45, son of late Hossain Ali of Aladipur village in Shibganj upazila, was killed and three others were injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a truck on Bagura-Rangpur highway near Gokul Bus Stand around 7:30 am.

On information, police rescued the injured and sent them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital, said Md. Akhtaruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Highway Police Station.

In Cumilla, school teacher Sumon Chandra Das, 35, son of Babul Chandra Das of Durgapur village in Sadar upazila, was killed and three people were injured in a road crash on Comilla-Laksam road in Shikarpur area early Thursday.

The accident took place when a tractor hit an auto-rickshaw, injuring four people, said Shafiqul Islam, in-charge of Lalmai Highway Police Outpost.

However, Sumon died on the way to the hospital, the police official added.
