Polls schedule to be announced any day after Oct 30

Election schedule will be announced any day after October 30, Election Commission Acting Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed said today.

The EC secretary said this at a press conference at Election Commission office.

Helal Uddin said that printing process of the final voter lists will start permanently from September 25. CDs of 104,100,000 voters lists have already been prepared. Printing will start when the CDs are sent to the districts.

The EC Secretary said that the possible number of polling stations in the upcoming 11th national elections is 40,199. Its draft lists have been published on September 5. The amendment application has been submitted on these drafts. They are being examined. The final updated lists will be published 25 days before the parliamentary elections.

About 80 percent of the work has been completed before the announcement of the schedule, and the procurement process of election materials in the last phase, the EC secretary said. The list of presiding and polling officers in the elections will be finalized after the schedule is announced.

He said that the number of polling stations in the eleventh parliamentary elections will be 20 6,540. A total of 700,000 officers will serve their duty in the polling stations.
