One of two children’s body recovered, father suspected

Police recovered a child’s body from a house in Dhaka’s Banglamotor area where a father kept his two sons hostage since this morning.

The law enforcers rescued another child alive and detained the father, Akhtaruzzaman Kajol.

The body was covered with a white cloth and placed on a table when police recovered it, police said.

The law enforcers rescued one child alive while the other child was covered with a white cloth at 1:50pm.

The lawmen broke into the house following allegation that the father held his two children hostage inside the house.

Confirming the development, Maruf Hossain Sardar, deputy commissioner of DMP (Ramna division), said that the man, AkhtaruzzamanKajol, is mentally unstable and his wife has left him for this reason. However, the couple’s two sons live with Kajol, the DC added.

Witnesses said that Kajol went out of the house around 8:00am this morning and brought in a cleric (Moulvi) for offering prayers at the house.

After the prayers, the cleric informed Shahbagh police that he saw a child in an unconscious state inside the house.

Informed, a team of Shahbagh police led by Officer-in-Charge Abul Hasan went to the house and found it was locked from inside.
