Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) welcomed newly elected DUCSU VP Nurul Haque inside the TSC on Tuesday.

BCL central committee president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon along with leaders and activists entered the TSC auditorium at 4:15pm and welcomed Nurul Haque.

"Nurul Haque will fulfill our expectations. We all have to work to maintain congenial atmosphere on the campus," BCL president Rezwanul Haque said.

Nurul Huq announced withdrwal of class and examinatoin boycott.

Earlier on the day, he had called for boycotting classes and examinations for an indefinite period from Wednesday.

He demanded fresh DUCSU polls in all posts except VP and social welfare secretary posts.

"None of the BCL men will be elected if a fair election is held. We will continue our movement involving the general students demanding a fresh election," Nurul told reporters at Raju Sculpture on the Dhaka University (DU) campus.

Quota reformists, independent DUCSU (Dhaka University Central Students' Union) poll candidates, leaders and activists of left leaning parties and general students were present.

Nurul alleged the BCL candidates did not win but the administration helped them win.

He said attempts were made to snatch away the rights of the students as the DUCSU polls were arranged after 28 years.

Earlier, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists assaulted newly-elected DUCSU VP Nurul Huq and his associates at TSC on the Dhaka University campus.

Nurul Huq reached the DU campus at 1:45pm from hospital where he was undergoing treatment after being assaulted by BCL activists on the election day. He along with his associates went to the Teacher Student Center and was talking to the media there.

BCL leaders and activists carried out the attacks on the leaders and activists of quota reformist panels who contested Dhaka University Students’ Union (DUCSU) polls. At that time, Nurul and his associates took shelter inside the TSC.

BCL men beat up several people and chanted slogans.

Nurul bagged the VP post of DUCSU deafeating the BCL candidate in Monday’s election. BCL, however, rejected the results and brought out a procession in protest.
