6 killed in Rajbari, Dhaka road crashes

Six people were killed in separate road crashes in Rajbari and Dhaka today.

In Rajbari Sadar upazila, four persons were killed and 20 injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus around 9:30am.

The identifies of the deceased could not be known immediately, said Masud Farooq Bhuiyan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ahladipur Highway Police.

The Dhaka-bound bus of Green Bangla Paribahan coming from Satkhira collided head-on with the truck at Ahladipur on Goalanda intersection-Kushtia regional highway, killing three people on the spot.

Another person died on the way to hospital, he said.

The injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and Rajbari Sadar Hospital, the OC said.

In Dhaka, a pick-up van fell into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Aricha Highway's Cosmos area in Dhamrai upazila, killing its driver and a passenger on the spot.

The deceased were identified as pick-up van driver Mithu, 35, and passenger Tushar,27.

The accident took place around 5:00am when the driver of a Manikganj bound pick-up van lost control over the wheel and fell into a ditch after hitting a road-side tree, said Sheikh Farid, sub-inspector (SI) of Dhamrai Police Station.

On information, police recovered the bodies and handed those over to the family members, the SI said.
