Fire on paddy: PM orders investigation

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered the concerned ministry to conduct a thorough investigation to unveil why the incident of setting paddy filed on fire protesting the price fall took place in some specific areas.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader came up with the information on Wednesday morning while talking to reporters at the secretariat in the capital.

The Awami League general secretary said the problem should have to be solved in realistic way.

“A problem has been created but it could not be resolved through setting fire on the paddy field. Our government is sincere to solve the problem as Sheikh Hasina’s administration is always farmer friendly”, Quader said.

Earlier on May 12, protesting the fall in coarse paddy prices and the scarcity of day labourers in Tangail, a farmer has set his Boro paddy field on fire.
