Ailing Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad underwent a kidney dialysis, an artificial way to remove waste from blood, at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the city on early Friday.

Ershad's personal assistant Maj (retd) Khaled Akhtar confirmed the update on Friday morning.

Khaled Akhtar said, “Our chairman needs blood. His blood group is B positive. Those, who are interested to donate blood for him, are asked to communicate at the CMH.”
He also informed that Ershad underwent the dialysis around 4:00am on early Friday.

Earlier, Ershad was put on life support at the CMH on Thursday afternoon following the deterioration of his condition.

HM Ershad, the 89-year-old former military strongman, has been suffering from various old age complications, including low haemoglobin and liver complication, high bilirubin and serious keen pain.

He was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the city on June 22 as his condition worsened.
