Bride father stabbed to death by ex-lover in Moghbazar

The parents of a bride were stabbed by a young man, who claimed himself as ex-lover of the bride, in front of the participants of the wedding ceremony at a community centre at Dilu Road in the capital’s Moghbazar area on Thursday.

Tula Mia, 45, the bride’s father, succumbed to death after he was sent to a hospital with serious injury.

Victim’s wife Firoza Khatun, in a critical condition, has been undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

Hatirjheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rashid confirmed the incident to journalists.

The attacker was identified as Sajib Ahmed Rocky, 23.

Abdur Rashid said, “The invitees of the ceremony handed over Rocky to the police after they caught and beat him.”

Later, Rocky was sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, where he was receiving treatment in the presence of police, he added.

Hatirjheel Police Station OC also informed, “Rocky has claimed that he once had love affair with the bride. He attacked in the wedding ceremony as he failed to accept his lover’s marriage.”
