8 killed as bus falls into roadside ditch in Faridpur

At least eight people were killed and 25 others injured after a Gopalganj-bound bus fell off a bridge in Dhuldi area of Sadar upazila on Saturday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Police said the accident took place around 2:30pm on Dhaka-Faridpur Highway.

Kotwali police station's officer-in-charge FM Nasim said six people were killed on the spot after the 'Comfort Paribahan' bus fell off the bridge. 

The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, the OC said.

Faridpur region's Highway Police superintendent Mostafizur Rahman said the driver lost control when allowing a speeding motorcycle to pass.

Locals assisted the fire service and police personnel in their rescue bid.
