2 minor girls found dead in Joypurhat

Police recovered the bodies of two minor girls from a pond at Uchna village of Panchbibi upazila in Joypurhat on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Moriom, 6, daughter of Rubel, hailing from Uchna village of the upazila and her cousin Monira, 6, daughter of Mokhleshur Rahman, of the same area.

According to locals, the duo went to aunt’s house in the afternoon on Monday. But, they did not return home.

Later, local people spotted their floating bodies in the pond this morning and informed police.

Confirming the news, Munsur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Panchbibi Police Station, said police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies at around 8:00am. The bodies were sent to Joypurhat Adhunik Hospital morgue for autopsies, he added.

The real cause of the death will be known after getting autopsy report, the OC said.
