4 among 3 of a family killed as bus collides with private car in Kurigram

At least four people, including three family members, were killed and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a car and a BRTC bus in Kurigram's Sadar Upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were named as Mojibur Rahman, 55, his wife Bilkis Begum, 50, their son Billal Hossain, 25, and the driver whose name could not be immediately known.

"A BRTC bus collided head-on with a Kurigram-bound private car on the Kurigram-Rangpur Highway in Raipur RDRS Bazar area of Kanthalbari Union at 8:15 a.m. leaving the car driver dead on the spot and five other passengers injured," said Kurigram Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Anwarul Islam.

Later, the locals rushed to Kurigram General Hospital, where Billal Hossain was pronounced dead by the on-duty doctor. Mojibur Rahman and Bilkis Begum died while in hospital treatment, he said.

The condition of one of the other two wounded is serious and could be sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better care, he added.
