In the night of July 31, Major Sinha was shot dead at a police checkpoint on Marine Drive Road between Cox's Bazar and Teknaf.

On 5 August, Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case with the Teknaf High Court of Justice against nine police officers, including Pradeep and Liakat.

On 6 August, seven of the defendants surrendered to the court, which returned them to prison after their pleas for bail had been dropped.

Immediately after the court's order, the RAB, which is in charge of the investigation, moved a petition for the arrest of the suspects. The court ordered Pradeep, Liakat, and Nanda Dulal to stay for seven days and gave investigators two days to interrogate the other four suspects.

Earlier, the court issued arrest warrants for the two wanted suspects identified in the case.

RAB has already begun to interrogate seven suspects, including four police officers.

Assistant Deputy Inspector Liton Miah and Constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun are in RAB custody.
