The High Court is expected to hear a petition filed on Monday by 22 accused defendants in the murder case of BUET student Abrar Fahad, expressing no faith in the current trial court.

The accused prayed for the transfer of the case from Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribunal-1, saying that they would "will not get justice" from the court.

Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 The case is currently being heard by Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman.

Defense counsel Munsurul Hoque Chowdhury said the petition would be heard by the High Court tomorrow (Monday).

The accused argued that Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman reported the statement of the 39th witness of the case on 30 November and scheduled the statement of the 40th witness on 3 December for recording.

The tribunal judge remembered the argument made earlier by the 33rd witness, who is a police officer, on December 3. Without giving any advance warning, the judge officially did so.

In addition, the public prosecutor had earlier posted a status on Facebook on the subject, he said.

Abrar Fahad, a second-year student in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was tortured and then killed inside BUET's Sher-e-Bangla Hall on October 7 last year by BUET's Chhatra League leaders.
