Man killed in police shootout

An alleged robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Khoiyabazar area under Harintana police station in Khulna city early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Zia Sana alias Hat Kata Zia alias Bomaru Sana, 45, a resident of Gutudia village of Dumuria upazila.
A team of police conducted a drive in the area around 2:30am, Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Harintana police station.
Zia was injured critically in a 'gunfight' during the raid, he said. He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Zia was wanted in 10 cases, including of murder and robbery, with different police stations of the city.
