A 17-year-old boy was killed and 15 others injured in clashes between followers of two chairmen candidates ahead of the union parishad election in Sylhet’s newly-formed Osmaninagar upazila on Sunday.

The victim, Saiful Islam, was from Uttarkalnichar of Sadipur in the upazila. He was supposedly a supporter of the ruling Awami League-backed chairman candidate, Ataur Rahman.

Police said Saiful had injury marks caused by brick chips.
